World Refugee Day Concert
Ara Malikian conducts the Non Profit Music Chamber Orchestra
A concert will be held in aid of Doctors Without Borders next Saturday June 16th at 19:30 in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música of Madrid. The concert will also serve as awareness campaign for the World Refugee Day. For this reason, besides the concert, the new CD Meeting with a friend will be on sale at a special price. The benefit obtained from the CD sale will be set aside for Doctors Without Borders. Tickets are already on sale in the “Red de Teatros del INAEM”, in the Auditorio Nacional, by telephone sale in the number 902 33 22 11 (Servicaixa) and by Internet in www.servicaixa.com (cliking “Música”, “Madrid”, “Sála de Cámara” and “Concierto Solidario 2007”).
Most of the program of the Concert matches the new work Meeting with a friend and includes the following pieces:
I Parte
Karl Jenkins (1944-)
Palladio. Concierto Grosso for String Orchestra.
Marjan Mozetich (1948-)
Fantasia... sul linguaggio perduto.
Giovanni Sollima (1962-)
Violoncelles, Vibrez!.
II Parte
Jorge Grundman (1961-)
Concierto Sentido para violin, viola, violonchelo y orquesta de cuerda.
Georgs Pelecis (1947-)
Meeting with a friend.
Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992)
Primavera Porteña (arr. Leonid Desyatnikov).
All the works belong to one of these categories: premiere in Madrid, premiere in Spain or world premiere. As usual, this one is extremely moving music by contemporary composers.
